Feeling Sorry For Myself On My Birthday

Okies, today is my 42nd birthday. It sucks getting older because the age starts showing more and more each year.

Last night, the kids and hubby gave me my birthday present early. Hubby had to work today so he didn't want me to have to wait all day for him to get home PLUS the kids were whining that they were gonna have to wait all that time to give me my present. Anyhoo, they all come into the livingroom and make me close my eyes. Then I have to reach out for my present which was in a gift bag.

The present was a Blue Tooth Wireless Headset for my cell phone. I was shocked at the gift because I didn't request it for my birthday and I guess it showed when I opened the present. Once I opened the gift, everyone was like mom don't you like your present. All I could say is what is it. I know, I know that was so mean. But they caught me off guard. Honestly, I really don't know what I would do with it. I kept thinking okies this thing is gonna hang off one of my ears and its gonna irritate me.

With all that said, early this morning while hubby was getting ready for work, I told him I was gonna take it back and get our money back. The damn thing was expensive. LOL I know his feelings were hurt but I just explained to him that I probably wouldn't wear it. So he agreed that I should take it back. Enough about my present...

On to my Jenny Craig story, last week they reduced my calorie intake to 1500 calories. I felt like I was starving the first couple of days but I stuck to my diet all week with the exception of having more than my share of popcorn at the movies when I went to see Harry Potter. I had moderate activity throughout the week more than normal because I have been trying to clean out my garage. BUT when I weighed in today, I didn't lose a dinged dang pound. I didn't gain which is great but more importantly I didn't lose.

Those of you who know me, know I am having a hard time with not losing because I get easily discouraged. I'm gonna hang in there because I am so motivated to lose this damn weight but I just can't believe I didn't even lose ONE pound! Enough about Jenny Craig...

Now this is the kicker. I went to bingo tonight with my mom. When you go to bingo on your birthday, you get a free buy-in for the next time you want to play bingo. So yayyyyy I got a buy-in for next time.

Mom won this game called the 1199. It was the first game of the night so she was really happy. That means she won $1199. Yayyyy for mom!

The sad thing for me is I bought the ticket. I hate when she sends me to buy her tickets when I am buying because that makes me chose what pile is hers so potentially it could have been my ticket. **sighs** But still I'm glad it was mom who won.

Anyhoo, the night is going by and I am getting on left and right. I have 3 books which is easy for me to handle. With about 5 games left, we start playing a three bingos game, corners count as a bingo. I had so many cards that were so busy I got the bingo and sat there waiting for them to call the next number. When they called the number (B7), I yelled BINGO! The kicker.....I should have yelled bingo on B5 (the number right before B7) instead of waiting for them to call B7!

YES, I SLEPT MY FIRST BINGO!!! I knew it as soon as he called the next number. I just covered my face and almost cried. I would have cried if so many people weren't looking at me.

Hubby picked me up and as soon as I got in the truck, I bawled like a baby. I could have really used that money for Christmas shopping. Oh hell, I am a firm believer of "Everything happens for a reason". Maybe the lady that won after me needed the money more. At least thats what I'm telling myself.

So yes, I am feeling sorry for myself on my birthday.

A Long Update

Okies, this is going to be a long update due to me not updating in a month. Thanks sisser for pointing that out!

Joseph & Football

As you all know, Joseph was enrolled to play football for the Cordova Lancers. After putting all his effort into practice and learning all the plays, he didn't get to play in one game. They played a schrimage game the week before the season started and he got a grade two concussion. He was finally released by the doctor to start playing again but the first day back his gear was stolen.

He told the coach and was given new equipment. Storing his bag in the coaches bin, his gear came up missing again the next day. Having this all happen Joseph missed the whole week because not being able to practice because of the missing gear.

The next week one of Joseph's coaches wanted him to play but the head coach decided differently. Joseph only got to practice with the team one day and that was the day the one coach was absent. So another week went by without Joseph getting into a real game.

The next week I approached the coach asking him was Joseph going to be able to at least get in one game before the season was over. Of course, he said yes but did he? Joseph kept asking if he was gonna be able to practice with the team that he was feeling well and still the coach didn't play him in practice. You know what that means ... you don't practice you don't get to play in the games.

Joseph got tired of begging his coach so the last three weeks he didn't go to any of the practices. I didn't make him either because he was so frustrated. The poor kid went to practice and to all the games even though he had the concussion. I hope the coach comes to us again during track season asking us to sign Joseph up again. I have a few words for him after putting out more than $500 bucks for Joseph to play and fundraisers. Joseph's experience with the concussion and the coach having tunnel vision doesn't want to play football ever again.

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts are going great. We have been getting a lot of new girls almost weekly. I believe we have 12 girls right now and that is after losing 2 or 3 to other troops because of moving. Right now, we have a couple of weeks off due to Thanksgiving and girls going to camp with their schools. It's a nice little vacation.

You Know Your Getting Old When...

You know your getting old when your first cousin has a daughter who has gotten married. I have a huge family and even have more cousins. Rose is a cousin who is close in age with me and here her daughter got married yesterday. The wedding was beautiful! We had a whole lot of fun hanging out with family and friends. After the bride and groom finished all their dancing and stuff, the party got started with music. Everyone started dancing including my son and daughters. They were so adorable since I've never seen them dance like that. Christy didn't want to dance but Joseph dragged her up on the dance floor. Then he brought Christy back by holding her hand and got his little sister, Nikki. So all three were out their shaking their booties. LOL!

The Holidays

Can you believe it is soon gonna be December? I can't. The year went by so quickly. I haven't started doing any shopping yet. Their are houses I've been seeing that already have Christmas decorations up. Boy oh boy, I love the holidays. I can't wait to see what I get this year.

Jenny Craig

Okies, I know this is gonna sound weird but I have started Jenny Craig's diet. You are probably saying why would you start when the holidays are approaching. Well you know how you get yourself set to start a diet? I have been getting myself ready since the end of August and I decided now is the time. My first week, I lost 6 pounds. I know I have lost more this week. I hope I keep on track and continue to do well. There are times I feel like having a certain something but other than that I don't feel like I'm dieting.

Yesterday, for the wedding I decided to go off my diet. Not go crazy but enjoy the food from the party. I did fine. I ate carnitas, red rice, beans and a salad for dinner. I had a little taste of the cake but without frosting. I really did do fine. This morning I went right back on my diet and I don't feel like I missed a beat. We'll see when Tuesday comes around (my weigh in day).

I think I'm updating for now. With this long huge update, I shouldn't have to update for another month. LOL
