Update-Schmupdate

Okies here is whats happened since last time. Joseph didn't get to play in last weeks football game but his team still won, 42-0. Woooo Hooooo for the Lancers!!!

I took Joseph to see Dr. S on Friday. I really loved the doc. He was so thorough. He wants to have a CAT scan done on Joseph. He wanted to have the scan done on Monday or Tuesday so Joseph could be released to go back to contact on Thursday. Today is Tuesday and I was unable to reach the nurse who is making the appointment. I know its not the doc holding the scan up, its probably my insurance. Anyhoo, the doc said Joseph seems to be doing much better. And after he examined him and had him do a some push-ups, he said the CAT scan was over kill but he didn't want to let Joseph go back to practice without it. I agreed!!!

I met up with Cuzzy and Bran on Sunday to go shopping for Halloween stuff. We didn't really find anything that we wanted but we had fun.

Moving on....

Monday morning, I woke up feeling really, really tired. I took the kids to school and came home and feel asleep on the recliner. My alarm went off to go pick up Nikki so I did. I fed her lunch and watched a little tv then woke Lawrence up at noon. Once Lawrence was up and getting ready for work, Nikki and I went and took a nap. I slept until my alarm went off to pick up Christy girl. As it got closer to evening to pick Joseph up from football practice, I started really feeling sick.

Yep, sick! Lawrence called on his way home from work so I had him stop and get me some Nyquil. I'm telling you as soon as I took that I was fast asleep. You wouldn't think I could sleep because I slept so much through out the day but I slept really good. I could tell the meds wore off close to 6 am.

So there is my update. I'm sick!!! My nose is stuffed up, my lips are dry from breathing through my mouth, my eyes are watery and I have a flippin' cough. I just hope its not a cough like cuzzys. She has a lingering cough!!! **looks paranoid** Did cuzzy get me sick?? Hmmmmm....

Another Update

We took Joseph to see Dr. W again and guess what? Yep, he still has lingering effects from the concussion so Dr. W said another week of no contact in sports. Next week, Dr. W wants Joseph to be seen by Dr S. Dr. S is the team doc for Sac State's football players. Dr. W has already been consulting with Dr. S about Joseph but wants him to see him for himself. I thought it was a great idea so we'll be seeing Dr. S next Friday. Until then, Joseph will still be benched. Poor kid!

Anyhoo, Joseph's team won again. They played Center High and beat em, 35-6. We all went to the game since it was at home to give support. It was fun.

After Joseph's appointment, we went to eat at Red Lobster. All I have to say about that is YUM!

Update

Okies, here is the update on Joseph, he still has a concussion. The doc says he has to sit out in practice because he can't risk having contact. Joseph is still having dizzy spells after running, therefore, no football until that is all gone.

If he still has problems when we see the doc again on Friday, the doc will look into having pics taken, such as CAT scan, etc. We're hoping that the dizziness and stuff is all gone by next week. I've been making him get some good rest so he can heal quicker.

He had his first football game but had to sit on the bench the whole time. He said it was killing him just watching the guys have all the fun of playing. His team won against Vacaville, 40-22. He was so excited when he came home and told us all about it.

My son is getting so big. He is already talking about going to the homecoming dance next month. Tuxedo and all! That means pics! Pics means more money! Whose idea was it to put him in football again? **whistling**

Adjustments

As you can see, I've made a small adjustment on my font. I realized the writing was really, really small. I realized this because I was squinting to read my own blog. You know its the age thing. Anyhoo, I can read my blog much easier now. LOL

We still haven't heard anything about my in-laws. I'm sure they are okay, I just wish we would hear something.

I have to take Joseph back to the doctor tomorrow. He has been fine in practice but then again because he can't have contact, how can we really know. He is going to his game tonight although he can't play he will be there for moral support.

Last night, we had our first Girl Scout meeting for the season. The meeting was a great success because all the girls showed up. Plus we had a new girl join last night, Christina. I think this is going to be an exciting year because we have all our "faithful" Girl Scouts and they are all excited about being back.

No More Stress Please

Well, you all know that we still haven't heard from my in-laws. I've been checking the survivor lists and today I finally saw a familiar name. The name had a phone number next to it so I called to see if it was my father-in-law. I gave the information about him to the voice on the phone and she said she would find out if this was my father-in-law. She would have to call me back. I don't know what came over me but after hanging up the phone, I just started bawling. The phone rang about 10 minutes after I had hung up. The voice says, "I'm sorry Janice but this isn't your father-in-law." All I could say, "Thank you, we'll keep looking." **sighs**

As if that isn't enough stress, I still have more. About a week and a half ago, Joseph took a pretty hard hit during football practice. I like to arrive a little early when I pick him up because I like watching them run plays. This particular day, I noticed Joseph was sitting on the bleachers. This was really strange because he is always in the line up. So I call him over to the truck to see why he wasn't in the game.

I find out that he took a hard hit. Joseph said his vision went kind of black but he didn't pass out. After that, he had to vomit. Of course, I am immediately thinking maybe I should take him out of football (after all, it was me that pushed him to join). I call Lawrence to tell him what happened and he reassured me that Joseph was probably just dehydrated. I wanted to take him to the doctors but Lawrence and Donny (Family friend) again assured me that he was fine.

Joseph had a scrimmage game on Thursday. His first actual play against someone other than his teammates. After a couple of hard hits, I notice my son holding his head. Lawrence thought he was adjusting his helmet. BUT you know us moms, I knew something wasn't right. When defense went in, I noticed Joseph went to the bathroom. I find out later that he had to vomit again. The scrimmage was over now so I went straight home and made an appointment for Joseph to be seen.

Well folks, he has a grade 2 concussion, with a grade 3 concussion being the worst (passing out completely). He has to take it easy in football. No Contact! That means he is going to miss his first game on this coming Thursday. He is really bummed but he'll get over it. I have to take him back to the doc on Friday to get looked at again. Doc says if this happens even one more time, Joseph will have to give up football until next year assuming a new physical shows he can play.

On a lighter note but still a bit stressful, my kitchen still isn't done. I am so tired of having my house a mess. I hate it! Everything is out of place. I can't stand it because it makes the house look dirty.

We finished the floors and I finished painting. I am waiting on Lawrence to cut and attach the base boards so we can move all the stuff back into the kitchen. Right now, everything is in my living room. There is barely any where to sit down or walk in there. Ughhhhhhh!

Calgon please take me away!

Stressful; No Sleep Again

Well, I had another night where I could barely sleep. I kept thinking of all the people in New Orleans.

Last night before I went to bed, I watched a video clip online. There was this husband who was crying because he was on the roof of their house and he was holding his wife by her arm, trying to pull her up onto the roof. The house pulled apart and it was harder for him to hold her, she says to her husband, "You can't hold me, take care of the children and grandchildren." (As he is talking to the reporter, he starts crying harder.) And she floats away. OMG, I started crying. That is so sad.

Anyhoo, we haven't heard from any of my in-laws, who all live in New Orleans. My father-in-law and his wife live by one of the levee breaks. My sister-in-law and her grandmother lives by the other levee break. We are hoping that they fleed to shelter before Hurricane Katrina hit their town. I've been checking
CNN everyday to see if their names appear on the survivor list. No such luck yet.
