Bargains

How far will you go for a bargin? I went shopping yesterday with hubby. I saw a Big Lots! commercial. They were advertising a 10 foot 30 inch pool for only $44. I wanted to surprize the kids by buying one. Needless to say they were sold out in three different locations.

Anyways, while I was shopping for this pool I couldn't help but shop around the store. This is where the bargin comes in. As I was shopping, I saw a rack full of wedding dresses for sale there. Can you believe it? Wedding dresses for $50 and up! How crazy is that. Now I don't know about you but would you buy a wedding dress from Big Lots!?

I did end up buying two big unbrellas for fun in the sun. They were only $5.99 a piece. I also bought three bamboo mats for $0.99 a piece. Now thats a bargin!

The Kids

Joseph's first track season has come to an end. Five middle schools competed against each other for 6 weeks. Joseph raced in six - 100m, six - 200m & four - 4x100m relay races. He received three Second Place ribbon for all three events he competed in. We are very proud that he placed on his first year in track especially knowing all the other kids that he raced against. He had some great competition!

Christy finally got to perform in her school talent show. She performed with three of her friends. They danced to 1-2 Step by Ciara. They did an fantastic job. Of course, I was so proud that I cried after her performance. She is so beautiful! While Christy was on stage, Nikki was in the audience dancing. She knew all the steps and danced right along.

What Color Are You?

Today, I visited Arlibie, saw this quiz and decided to take it. Looks like I'm Purple.

You are the color Purple.
Your main goal is to achieve your dreams, which you'll do in your own original way. You place little value on the material things and are happiest when working towards the greater good. Always follow your heart and you'll do well.

Where Does All The Time Go?

It seems like it was just yesterday when Joseph was born. He will be going to high school next year. Christy will be going to middle school. And my baby, Nikki, will be starting kindergarten. Oh yeah, my god daughter, Venessa will be twenty-one on June 2nd.

Again, I ask you, "Where does all the time go?"

**EDIT**

As I was reminded, my baby sissers,
Rancine & Odie, who happen to be twins, are turning 30 this year. Thats just wrong! Dang, where does all the time go!?!

What Do I Do Now?

Well the kids went to spend the night with Grammy &
Auntie Jodi. They have just walked out the door and already I don't know what to do. They are usually here bugging me, asking for all kinds of snacks when they know they shouldn't be having any. Have you ever noticed how things happen when the kids are here and when they are away? When they are gone I'm always asking myself, "Why is it that I miss them as soon as they walk out the door?" And when they are here bugging the heck outta me, "Can I please just have Calgon take me away?" LOL

Anyhoo, I sent them to Grammys with some DVDs and cherries. I even sent some cherries for Baxter (Odie's Rat). I know Odie -- he isn't a rat but yanno what I mean. LOL Have fun guys and see you at home tomorrow.

Mother's Day

I hope all the moms had a wonderful Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day!!

To make a very long story short, Saturday, my shower was clogged while the girls showered and since the shower clogged while they were showering of course that means I didn't get to bathe. Hubby tried to fix it and couldn't so we went on with our plans and spent Saturday night having dinner with mom and spending our Mother's day time with her during this time.

Sunday morning the shower still wasn't fixed. We were supposed to go out for Mother's day breakfast but hubby ended up going to Home Depot to purchase a plumbers snake so we could unclog it ourselves. Well that didn't work either. I don't think we put the snake in far enough or whatever.

The kids were complaining because their plans were ruined because of the drain. So now hubby goes to the store again to get a power puff thingy. This is supposed to shoot a strong gust of wind to push the clog out. That didn't work either.

I tried to bathe in the bathtub but that seemed to be on the same line so the water was coming through the bathtub too. I started looking in the phone book. I found plumbers that charged by the job and not by the hour. They also didn't charge more for Sunday so I called.

We had Roto-Rooter come out and it was fixed within 20 minutes. The culprit was a nasty hair clog. The plumber said with that much hair that clog had been there for quite some time. All I have to say is Ewwwwwwwwww, that was nasty!!!

Anyhoo, we all finally got to shower and got ready to go out for dinner. The kids were all excited and gave me a list of choices we could go for dinner. I chose
Cattlemens. Boy oh Boy was it yummy!!

Proud Mom

My son, Joseph runs on his school's track and field team. He loves to run so he decided on his own that he wanted to run with a team. He loves speed so he runs the 100m, 200m & 4x100m relay.

Joseph has a meet every week. The team has only had 4 track meets so far. The team will only participate in a total of 6 meets. I believe the top runners will then be invited to participate in an invitational event.

In the first meet, Joseph only ran the 100m and 200m, which he came in 3rd and 4th place. He was so down on himself that he didn't win. My husband and I were excited, we thought he did well. All week after the first meet, Joseph kept telling me he was going to beat the guys that beat him. As a mom, I tried to prepare him not to be disappointed if he didn't beat them but also tried to encourage him to do his best. He gave me a stearn look and said, "No Mom, I am going to beat those guys - you just watch."

In the second meet, Joseph ran in the 100m, 200m & the 4x100m relay. The 4x100m relay was the first event. His team came in 1st place with Joseph running the last leg of the race. He came in 1st place in the 100m and 200m. So you can imagine how he was feeling, how we were feeling --- very proud!

In the third meet, Joseph ran his normal three races. His relay team came in a very close 2nd. He came in 2nd in both the 100m and 200m races.

Yesterday in the fourth meet, Joseph again ran his three races. His relay team came in 2nd. He came in 1st place in both his other events. During the meet, my husband and I were approached by a football coach. He was telling my husband how he has been watching our son, not just at the meet but also at school in the morning when my son plays football before classes. He likes Joseph's size and speed and wants him to play football for the high school next year.

While we are still watching all the kids running, another coach approaches us and asks if our son plays basketball. Yes he does. My husband talks more with the coach about positioning and Joseph's shot. Then the coach says "Do you think I could get some contact information from you?" "We would love to have your son come out and join our team."

I knew that coaches did this kind of scout stuff but really I thought it was just in the movies. Seriously, I thought it only happened in the movies. Both coaches said if Joseph decides not to play with them that he should stay in sports. He has a great potential after all my boy is a 6'1" eighth grader. This is the first time he joined a school sport. He has played organized ball before tho.

Fruit

One of the reasons we liked the house we bought was because of the fruit trees. I have a lemon, tangerine, apricot, peach and cherry tree. We have already tasted the fruit from the lemon and tangerine trees. Scrumptious!

My peaches are coming along fine especially after finding out our tree has curly leaf. I have talked to a nursery about it and they have advised us what to do about it.

The apricots are also coming along fine. Nikki is watching this tree like a hawk. She absolutely loves apricots. She has already called dibs on the first apricot that is ready.

As for the cherries, they are coming along quite nice. Yesterday, I noticed the green cherries were turning a pale yellow and even slightly pink. I was on the phone with my mom when I noticed and I was really, really excited. I was so excited yesterday that I made my husband take a look today. I went out first to check on the cherry tree and low and behold...the cherries are red! I think tomorrow some might be ready to pick and eat. You know I'll be in charge of that part. LOL

You can see my trees
here.

Movies

Today, I bought two movies, National Treasure & The Phantom Of The Opera. I invited Odie over after dinner to watch Phantom. I wasn't sure I was really going to like it. I love musicals but I haven't ever watched an opera. I loved it. I thought it was very good. I'll let you know about National Treasure.
