Happy Birthday

Yesterday, my husband, Lawrence and my mom, Frances celebrated their birthdays. Hubby is 45 years young (Happy Birthday Babe) and Gram is well, ummm 62 years young too (Happy Birthday Gram).

We didn't get to see Mom yesterday because she went to bingo for her birthday. She went early too. I think she was a little excited. LOL

Hubby spent his birthday with me and the kids. First, we went to the movies to see "Sahara." I loved it. Sahara is the movie with Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn and Penelope Cruz. I really loved the way Mathew and Steve worked together. I thought they were really funny.

After the movie, the kids were bugging their dad about where we were going out to eat. Hubby doesn't like to go out to eat so home we went. You should have seen the faces. In our house, if its your birthday, you get to chose your movie you want to see and then pick where you want to eat. When hubby didn't pick a restaurant, it was like "OMG, we don't get a free dinner!" LOL Once we got home, hubby had me order pizza.

Pizza finally arrived after almost an hour. As we were eating pizza, we watched Lemony Snikcket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" I enjoyed that movie too. I have read the books with the kids and thought Jim Carrey did a great job as Count Olaf. This is a DVD that I have added to my collection.

Sock Hop

Last night, I took the kids to our Girl Scout sock hop. I didn't really plan on what we were all gonna wear so I was scrambling at the last minute to find 50s things to wear.

I ended up having
Christy and Nikki dress in white capri pants and cute little tops. The tops passed for 50s attire. I tried to get Joseph to wear my hubby's leather jacket and a plain white t-shirt. That was a no go, he wouldn't have any part of getting dressed up. I just wore a pair of jean capris and a white blouse.

The kids had fun. Even though it was a Girl Scout event, family was invited so there were guys there. My son immediately saw girls that he knew. They flocked on over in droves, giggling. He was soon outside in the courtyard, chatting with friends.

Nikki immediately owned the dance floor. You know how when the dance floor is empty, the first person is always scared to be the first. Well not Nikki! She was out there as soon as we walked in. I'm not kidding. I didn't even get to put our stuff on the table and she was shaking that little booty and didn't stop until the last song was played.

Christy finally warmed up and started heading out to the dance floor, by this time we only had about 20 minutes left. She went out there and played around with her friends and Nikki.

Cuzzy was at the event with me. Man did she look purdy. She had a really nice red blouse on, a red headband, red shoeies, black capri pants and bright red lipstick on. She really looked 50ish.

Prize for Christy

Dieting, Yeah Whateva

Why is it that some folks just have it in their genes to be skinny minnies and others fatty watties?

Well folks, I guess I don't have to tell you but I am the latter of the two. I have tried every single diet out there. I'll lose weight but never as much as I want. I know when I am on the diet, I should be exercising more often but I find every reason why I can't make it to the gym. I end up going off the diet and then gain all that I lost plus some extra back again.

I, once long time ago when I was young, lost 22 pounds in one month on the Atkin's diet, that was long before it became a craze (for lack of a better word). I've tried that diet again now that I am older and my metabolism has slowed down, way down and I only lost maybe 20 pounds in four months. For those of you wondering if I was cheating while on the diet, I wasn't. I stuck to it! I bought the book and everything.

I'm getting to a point in my life where I am thinking, I've been heavy most of my adult life, why should I even diet now? Why should I even try to lose weight? Everyone knows me as me, so why do anything about it. I don't want to think like that because I'm miserable like this.

Now don't take this wrong but my personality is a fun, happy, loving, easy-going, personality. I'm not saying that overweight people aren't all those things but there is a part of a very overweight person that is just plain unhappy.

Anyways, I'm starting to ramble. I guess this entry is I want to lose weight but gawd when will I find the "right" diet? When will I have the will power to stick with the right diet? When will I get myself to a gym again? When will I ever see the beautiful person under all this fat again? I know she is in there, for I am her.

The New Layout

As you can see by all the green, I have made a new layout. If you really look at it, its still similar to what I had before. I just moved things around like my tag board is under the "contact" button.

After doing this layout, I have come to realize I need to learn more about css and php. I haven't tried to tackle php at all but I have found a lot of things I would like to have on my page BUT in order to have them I have to know php. With my css, I really never learned it. I got an old source from a friend and tried to make it my own. I'm not even sure I've done that right. This is why I want to learn more.

I would really love to take a class on all this stuff. What do you say
cuzzy? Wanna go to school again? Oh by the way cuzzy, I made you a giftie! Enjoy!!!

Please leave a comment about my new layout. I would love to hear anything and everything about it. I take constructive criticism well.

New Layout

I know I keep promising that I will have a new layout up soon. Well I have been working on it. If you come to my page and a couple of things are a little screwy, I'm probably messing around with things so please be patient.

I could make a page so you don't see the mistakes I'm making but what the heck. Please keep checking back.

Fear Factor Cocktails

For those of you who know me, know I love to watch
Fear Factor. I really could care less about the stunts (Not totally true, I like it all), but I like to watch what they have to eat or drink. Really, I don't think I could do any of that stuff on there. Even for $50,000 buck-a-roos.

Today, I was watching and Fear Factor was in Las Vegas and the first stunt wasn't that bad. One person had to hang upside down way up in the air with handcuffs on. That person had to uncuff themselves and then pull a rip cord, where they would fall so a car ramp would catch fire. Once the ramp was on fire, the other person had to drive, flip on the ramp and go through those big orange barrier things you see on the street.

If you were lucky enough not to get eliminated in that round, you move on to the next round. The second round! The second round is always the best round in my opinion. They had to play a hand of poker. Five cards turned face down on the table that any team could pull three cards from to make the best hand. The other two cards you had to earn by drinking your cocktail.

The cocktails included things like...

Spider Cider - This was a drink that had blended mealworms & Egyptian Spiders. The drink was about the size of a shot, but was really thick. To garnish the drink, there was an Egyptain spider that you had to eat like you would celery in a bloody mary.

Bloody Mary - This drink was made with cows blood and garnished with a stalk of celery.

Scorpion Martini - This drink was blended up Black Scorpions. Served in a martini glass. Garnished with a black scorpion that you had to eat.

Fish Eye Mai Tai - This drink consist of slimy fish eyes & fish eggs. Served in a collins glass.

Rattle Snake Shooter
- This drink consists of blended rattle snake guts with a Habanero pepper as the chaser.

Banana slug daquiri - This drink consists of blended banana slugs & mealworms. Served in a martini cocktail glass. Garnished with a banana slug that you had to eat.

What drink can I get you?

A Couple Of Things

First,
Christy is home! It was great seeing her get off that bus after this long, long week. You could immediately tell she was exhausted. Her trip was fantastic except she was cold most of the time. Now she's home and excited about getting to sleep in her own bed again. Thats where she is now. Click here if you want to see where she went. Welcome home Christy-Girl!!!

Second, if you notice in the address line of IE, I have a little icon next to my website addy. Yay! You should be seeing a green butterfly with a dark green background. I made that pixel myself. Its my patch for the Quilting Bee honeycomb vines. I'll probably change that to a frog as soon as I figure out how to make a pixel one on my own. Anyhoo, if you like my little icon, you should go over to l'oubli. Charlotte has a great tutorial on how to make your own. Thank you again Charlotte. I love it!

My Girl Is Coming Home

Yayyyyy!!! Christy-Girl is coming home tomorrow! I can't wait until we see her. She doesn't get back into town until about 5 pm so you know I will be there early so I can get the first parking space.

The whole family is missing her especially Nikki, I think even her older brother, Joseph. He hasn't said much about her being gone but I know when she gets home he will be telling her all about his first track meet that went on today. I can hear it now. He will be telling her all about his first track meet and she will want to talk over him to tell him all about her first camp field trip. He will try to talk over her and her over him.

Then I'll hear "Mommmmm, Joseph won't let me talk" or "Mommmmmm, tell Christy to let me finish first!" And I will hear Nikki in the background, "Joseph just let Tissy tell you first!" "Mom, Joseph and Tissy are fighting." Joseph and Christy both yelling, "Nikki, be quiet and go in there with mom." The joys of motherhood. Everything will be back to normal.

The First Time

Yesterday, my daughter,
Christy went on a field trip to the coast but it wasn't just any field trip. This field trip will last until Friday, April 15th. This is a camping in cabins type of field trip. Cabins without electricity and bathrooms. This means Christy will be away from home and away from us for a full five days. This is the first time any one of my children will be gone for such a long time.

As I packed her up on Sunday night, I had thoughts running through my head. Thoughts that wanted me to keep her home. Yes, I am a mother hen. I stress a whole heck of a lot and I worry about every little thing. Included in those thoughts, were other thoughts, like I shouldn't hold her back.

I decided Sunday night or I should say early Monday morning that I would allow her to go. I also decided I wasn't going to show her that I was sad she was going to be gone for those five days. She is such a great kid, if she saw I was upset, she would have volunteered not to go.

Monday morning, I continued to help her get ready. I made sure everything was packed up and double checked things again. I give her a kiss and hug as she is walking out the door with her daddy, and I continue to bark out orders to her..."stay close with your class," "don't wander off with friends," "if you have to go to the restroom in the middle of the night, make sure an adult goes with you," & "make sure you have fun!"

The whole time she is walking to the truck, she is saying, "I know mom, I know." She drives off to school to meet her classmates and I walk back into the house and bawl my head off.

What? I can't help it. I miss her. I wonder what she is doing right now. I hope she isn't too cold. She doesn't like cold at all. I wonder if she misses us.

New Layout & Stuff

Well I have been trying to work on some graphics for a new layout and I can't seem to get anything done. I mean I know what I want but when I do it, its not what I want. I hate when I do things and its all wrong.

So I quit working on the graphics and starting putting my
Qbee quilt together. I mean its together right now but I want it to look prettier and more organized. I hope I don't get stuck on this too.

I have also uploaded some images onto my laptop so I might post those later. Come back soon.

Yay It's Over!!!

Tonight, my Girl Scout troop had a big ceremony. We had an Investiture ceremony which included our troop and a sister daisy troop. An investiture is when we welcome a girl into the Girl Scouts for the very first time or when we rededicate returning girls back to the Girl Scouts.

Anyhoo, things went pretty well. The girls all had fun and thats what counts. I think the parents had fun also.

I do have to say this though ... my feet hurt!!! I am not kidding. I wore a pair of shoeies that killed me after standing on them for 2 hours. They didn't hurt that bad when we went dancing and I wore them. Maybe because the floor was harder or sumpin'. I have no idea.

I wanted to have a post that would be funny but I honestly can't think of anything except "Man my bed is freakin' comfy"...I'm doing the wireless thing right now and its not good when you are tired and laying in bed. Now its nigh nigh time. Good night folks, maybe a better post tomorrow.

Are You A Kings Fan?

I have to admit, I am NOT a
Sacramento Kings fan. I know, I know, how can I live in Sacramento and not be a fan. Well let me tell you, I didn't really pay attention to basketball let alone professional basketball. I didn't know the Kings existed until 1987-1988. Don't get me wrong, I knew b-ball existed but had no idea who the Kings were.

One day, way back when I worked at Long John Silvers, about five or six guys came into the LJS's on Folsom Blvd. These gentlemen were all over six feet tall. When I looked up and saw so many tall guys, I assumed they were from the Air Force Base down the street. I thought maybe they played a little b-ball with each other because of their height but had no idea they played professionally. So like a dough-dough bird, I asked them if they played b-ball. They ALL turned to each other, grinning from ear to ear, and said yes we play a little ball together. I remember one of the guys even winking at me as he walked away from the counter.

A week or so passed by and Lawrence, my boyfriend at the time (my hubby now) was over at my apartment. He asked if he could watch the Kings game. I said sure even though I didn't know how to play or anything. I was just gonna watch because I wanted to maybe impress him. As we are sitting there watching, the announcer starts introducing the teams. I see the whole starting line up of the Sacramento Kings. I kind of gasped in embarrassment. Lawrence looked at me like I just had a heart-attack and asked what was wrong. I'm sure my face was totally red when I told him I just asked those guys if they played b-ball. OMG how embarrassing! No wonder why they laughed with each other. I can't believe they told me that they played a "little" b-ball.

I remember seeing Reggie Theus, Kenny Smith, I think someone named Causwell and Tisdale. How crazy is that? Dang another time I didn't get any autographs!

Anyhoo, the whole reason me telling you about my Kings story is because I went to a Sacramento Kings vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game yesterday. I went to the game with my sisser, Odie. She got tickets from her new boss. We had a good time except we had to climb a gazillion stairs. I'm not kidding, we were way up top. I'm not complaining though because the tickets were free.

The Kings fans were extremely loud. No wonder why players and coaches complain they can't hear anything. The didn't get to get that loud though because the Kings lost.

My sister was laughing at me because I wasn't really saying anything if the Kings or the Twolves did anything great. There was this lady two seats down from me she was routing for the Twolves, and the two people in the seats between us were advid Kings fans. They were wearing the jerseys and all. You could see they were both getting irritated with her everytime she would yelled for the Twolves. The woman sitting right next to me would get a little irritated with me because I was cheering for Garnett, Sprewell and Cassell. A guy across the way yelled out really loud when it was a "little" quiet that he hated Sprewell. I had to come back with a comment to that one. "He's laughing his hated self all the way to the bank!

Two more things, one is that I didn't mean to write so much and the other, hubby told me this morning when he got home from working another overtime that I was having too much fun without him lately. He's got his eyes on me now. LOL

A Day At Mom's

This morning the phone rang at about 11 AM and it was
Odie. Odie says are you still nigh nigh. Uh huh. Ok, I'll call you later. **hangs up**

I received my new bed yesterday and got to sleep in it all my by self because hubby worked OT. I'm telling you it was so comfy I couldn't wake up this morning. Even after hubby got home this morning, I woke up to talk to him about the bed and something else I can't even remember. But then went back to sleep.

I finally got out of bed at noon. Jumped in the shower and then off to mom's house we went. I'm trying to make it an every week thing to go to mom's at least one day on the weekend. Today, it just happens to be Saturday because tomorrow me and Odie are going to the Kings game, Timberwolves vs Kings. Wooooo Hooooo!!!!

Anyhoo, I'll post again tomorrow to let you know how the game goes. I'm know I am from Sacramento but I'm not really a Kings fan. I do like some of the Kings but I am a true Bulls fan. In my household, they are ALL Laker fans. Sisser got the tickets free so we're going. Two sissers just hanging out.
