Stress-Free for one day

Yesterday, we took a trip to Napa with my brother-in-law, Donny, and his girlfriend, Kim. Donny works part-time for a club here in Sacramento and his boss gave him VIP privileges at the
Beringer Vineyards.

The VIP privileges allowed a limo to pick up us at home, Donny & Kim already in the limo. The kids were excited to see what our limo looked like. We had a white 10-man limo for only 4 of us, so you know we were all spaced out just having a good time. After the kids checked out the limo, we were off to Napa for our 2:30 pm tour.

We left my house a little after 11:00 am. We got in the limo and no sooner do we get on the freeway, Kim makes us some champagne and Alize. The guys started out with a Budweiser and moved on to what Kim and I were drinking.

We finally arrived in Napa around 2pm. The tour was great. We tasted a really great nt and took the tour. On the tour, we tasted a couple of other wines. One being a Chardonnay and the White Zinfandel. I have to say that was my favorite out of the whole day. After getting our first taste, we weother a Sparkling White Zinfandel (in other words more Champagne). We could have tasted three more wines in that building but I chose not to. I was getting a headached because of all the different tastings. I'm on of those that has to stick with the first drink I have.

Anyhoo since we were on VIP status everyone else's tour ended except ours. We moved on to the Private Reserve room. We sat at a table outside in the shade and they brought wine menus to us. We were allowed to try any series we wanted. There were four different series.

I selected the Signature Series. It consisted of a 2002 Private Reserve Chardonnay, 1999 Bancroft Ranch, Howell Mountain Merlot & a 1999 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

My hubby selected the Vintage Retrospective Series. It consisted of a 1996 Priveate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1998 Quarry Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon & a 1999 Rancho del Oso Cabernet Sauvignon.

Kim & Donny selected the Dessert Wine Series. It consisted of a 2001 Nightingale, 1998 Late Harvest Johannisberg Riesling & a 1999 Port of Cabernet Sauvignon. Althought Kim & Donny chose the Dessert Series they ended up not liking the taste after the first glass and decided to change to what I was having.

Let me just say this, none of us four are big wine drinkers. We just wanted to give it a try since Donny's boss had given him the tour. And this is what I wanted to say, "Damn! Wine tasting is very expensive." Good thing it was all free. The wine tasting that we did plus the wine that we didn't try because we were becoming wine-ohs would have cost us $176.

We decided to leave early and grab a bite to eat. Now after going on a wine tasting tour, one would think we would go and have a nice sit down dinner being that we were in a very nice limo BUT we went to have Popeye's Chicken. At least we didn't go through drive-thru.

We started on our way back to Sacramento. We made a stop in Old Sacramento had a couple of real drinks at Fanny Ann's Saloon. Then we headed home. We ended our Stress-Free day at about 8 pm.

We really had a good time. It was the first time in a long time that hubby and I got to drink at the same time. Those of you that know us, know we are very responsible. Only one gets to drink and the other becomes the designated driver.

Oh yeah,,,I forgot to tell you all the we brought home of bottle of that Sparkling White Zinfandel. Maybe we can send the kids off for the weekend so hubby and I can enjoy it without interuptions. Muhwahahahahaha!!!

Brats Whereabouts

I've been really busy lately. The kids are back in school and busy as heck. My Girl Scout troop has started up again.

I'm still trying to get my house to fit my style and stuff. I just wish I had more money so I could get more done.

THEN, I have a houseful of peeps. My sister, her husband, their daughter and their dog are here. Not to mention my mom is here at my house tooooooo. Yes, she lives right here in town but she can't miss a beat. Geeezzzzz! Twelve weeks to go.
